HIGH SCHOOL (IX – XII)

The High School Program at RiverDale allows a student the choice to graduate in either the ICSE SCIENCE/COMMERCE & ISC Curriculum

ICSE (IX - X) SCIENCE/COMMERCE

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations constantly strives towards the development of curriculum framework in order to make the syllabus more learner centered and relevant to their needs. Keeping in mind the average child, the High School Program at RiverDale focuses on preparing the student to effectively answer the ICSE Examination.

The School helps the students in subject selection by organizing workshops on Career Counseling and Planning.  Students and parents are constantly guided by the school in this regard and orientation sessions are organized by the school to apprise the parents of the 2 curriculums offered at RiverDale.

Where languages are concerned the students are exposed to good and appropriate literature in English and Hindi (or French) in order that a student may use the language effectively and appropriately.

A student of social science is encouraged to understand the working of the Indian Government and learns to appreciate the culture and value of contemporary India. At the same time knowledge of World History and the contributions made by various cultures helps a student understand the modern era of which he too is an important and contributing entity.  The knowledge of Geography and Environmental Education cannot in any way be neglected as this too is a significant subject of the ISCE syllabus and covers geographical concepts, the understanding of eco systems and protecting, preserving and conserving the environment and its resources. The students are taken for field trips and lectures and seminars are organized for a more hands on experience.

The High School encourages students to acquire knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts and works towards developing an interest in math and eliminating the ‘fear of math” from each child.   All science subjects are taught and supported with regular practical work. Students are assessed on a regular basis by the subject teachers and given extra help in the form of “Individual Support Classes”.

The Project based study encourages students to “Learn by doing”.  Research work is the key to helping students explore new areas in different fields.

RiverDale International Residential School is affiliated to the ICSE Board.  The school emphasizes the understanding of concepts and their application over mere learning of texts.
In the ICSE Curriculum offered at Grade IX-X a student can opt for either Science or Commerce.
